Lola

April 9th, 2006

Went to see the band Lola at Rust last night. One of my collegues, Nikolaj Christensen, plays the guitar in Lola. They are pretty new and only just emerged from the practice room a year ago or so.

Still, I enjoyed it and generally had a good time. The lead singer was less of a prima donna than the last time I saw them at The Rock, which really suits the band.

I will not try to describe the music - I have no idea how - “Writing about music is like dancing about architecture” - so you just have to trust me, or go grab the mp3s on their mymusic-page.

Two other bands played as well: Highway Child that sounds exactly like that! Good old fashioned american rock. The name of the other band is currently escaping me (damn that last Fernet Branca yesterday!).

The two other bands were also great. It’s not normally rock that plays in my iPod but I can definitely see its merit live!

It’s my plan to go out and catch more live music in the future. It’s a great alternative to regular boozing - you don’t have to come up with clever things to say!

Among my plans is to see I Got You on Tape at Rust (again) May 5th. They are currently the ones occupying all my iPod time. (their cover keeps reminding me of the picture for Press Play on Tapes boyband video - and they both have “Tape” in their names. Fancy that!)
